    Borrelia VlsE-1 IgG/pepC10 IgM Plus Test System

    The ZEUS AtheNA Multi-Lyte® Borrelia VlsE1/pepC10 IgM Plus Test System is a multiplexed sandwich assay for the qualitative detection of IgG class antibody to recombinant VlsE1 and the IgM class of antibody to synthetic pepC10 in human serum. The AtheNA Multi-Lyte® Borrelia VlsE1/pepC10 IgM Plus Test System is intended for use in testing human serum samples which have been found equivocal or positive by alternate serological procedures to provide supportive evidence of infection by Borrelia burgdorferi. This kit is for in vitro diagnostic use only. Assay performance characteristics have not been established for immunocompromised or immunosuppressed patients, cord blood, neonatal specimens, or infants.

    EBV IgM Plus Test System

    The ZEUS AtheNA Multi-Lyte® EBV VCA IgM Plus Test System is a microparticle-based immunoassay intended for the qualitative detection of IgM class antibody to the Epstein-Barr virus, viral capsid antigen in human serum using the AtheNA Multi-Lyte® System. This test system is intended to be used for the laboratory diagnosis of EBV-associated infectious mononucleosis and provides epidemiological information on the diseases caused by Epstein-Barr virus.

    EBV IgG Plus Test System

    The ZEUS AtheNA Multi-Lyte® EBV IgG Plus Test System is intended for the qualitative detection of IgG class antibody to three separate EBV Antigens (EBV-VCA gp-125, total EBV-EA, and recombinant EBNA-1) in human serum using the AtheNA Multi-Lyte® System.     The ZEUS AtheNA Multi-Lyte® HSV 1 & 2 IgG Plus Test System is intended for the qualitative detection of the presence or absence of IgG antibodies to HSV-1 and HSV-2 in human serum.   • The AtheNA Multi-Lyte® Test System is a multiplexed, fluorescent, bead-based system designed to simultaneously perform multiple assays from a single sample. The system offers a simple and streamlined alternative to IFA and ELISA testing, providing improved clinical sensitivity and comparable clinical specificity in a labor-saving, automation-friendly format.

    The AtheNA Multi-Lyte® assay protocol requires only two 30-minute incubations with windows of +/- 10 minutes. Customized software makes it possible for you to run easy data reduction, concise specimen reports, and user-friendly data management applications.

    All AtheNA Multi-Lyte® serological assays have been developed and are manufactured by ZEUS Scientific. Each test system is composed of a bench-top flow analyzer and differentially dyed and distinguishable microspheres developed by the Luminex Corporation.

    The AtheNA Multi-Lyte® Test System is a breakthrough in multiple-analyte testing. It is a multiplexed system utilizing the patented Luminex® xMAP® technology. Polystyrene microspheres of uniform size are used as the solid phase.

    Each bead set is treated with a unique combination of two fluorescent dyes and conjugated to a different antigen, making it possible for the system to identify unique bead sets.

     

    Thousands of each bead set are combined to form a multiplex bead suspension. The bead suspension is added to the wells of a microplate.

     

    Unique bead sets can be conjugated with various, unique target molecules of interest.

    If antibody from the test sera is present, it will bind to the antigen-coated bead. Anti-human immunoglobulin reporter "tags" then bind with the antibody.

    If the patient possesses antibody to more than one bead set, all appropriate beads will be labeled with antibody and then conjugate. The bead suspension is analyzed using the AtheNA Multi-Lyte® instrument.

     

    Beads flow through the flow cell and light scatter determines discrete events.

    Inside the AtheNA Multi-Lyte® instrument, one laser identifies the amount of reporter on the surface. The other determines the amount of classification dyes (to identify the bead set).

    This flow analysis of the beads occurs at a rate of up to 20,000 beads per second. Final analyte results require a minimum of 50 discrete events, the equivalent of running each sample 50 times in 50 separate  wells.

    Multiplex assays test multiple analytes in the same well, at the same time, on a single patient sample. For tests run in panels or series, all can be run on the same microplate in a single well.

    Intra-Well Calibration Technology™

    All AtheNA Multi-Lyte® assays incorporate Intra-Well Calibration™. A patient-specific standard curve is run in every well, at the same time and under the same conditions as the patient sample. This means that separate calibrators are not required and the number of reportable wells per run is increased when compared to other technologies like ELISA.

    SAVe™ Diluent

    All AtheNA Multi-Lyte® assays include SAVe™ Diluent. This universal component of AtheNA Multi-Lyte® assays changes color when serum is added. This means that in the busy laboratory setting, it is simple to visually recognize where the technician is in adding diluted sera to the plate. This also serves as a visual verification of diluted sera addition on automated pipetting platforms.

    Flexible reporting

    The AtheNA Multi-Lyte® allows the end-user to select how results are reported; numerically (all numeric results or just positive results) or interpretive (positive, negative or equivocal).

    Customized software

    The AtheNA Multi-Lyte® allows the end-user to customize many aspects of the AtheNA Multi-Lyte® software. For example, if not all of the analytes in the test system are requested to be run, the laboratory can select multiple reporting options. There are also several data-management options including Levey-Jennings and other quality control functions.

    Common procedure

    Virtually all of the AtheNA Multi-Lyte® assays utilize an identical procedure. This means that end-user training when incorporating new assays is minimal. This also means that running multiple assays on the sample plate (multi-batching) or automating multiple assays to run at the same time is easily accomplished.
